There are basically two kinds of training; one is behavior training and the other is obedience training.
Behavior training is done to prevent or correct bad habits that your Shih Tzu might have!
Begging for food, chewing shoes, biting furniture, barking are some of the habits it may have.
Obedience training can be difficult for the trainer as Shih Tzu can be stubborn reluctant to accept commands. The only way to approach obedience training is to praise them and love them more. This helps the Shih Tzu to learn to obey his trainer.
